Microneedling benefits include treating fine lines and wrinkles, scars and blemishes, loose skin, large pores, sun spots and pigmentation, stretchmarks, and even hair loss (Alopecia). It can be done in other parts of the body for smoother, firmer and toned skin.
First, the area is deeply cleaned and topical anesthetic is applied before the procedure to reduce the chances of pain. Small pricks are made on the skin area with a pen-like tool. The entire procedure takes about 20 minutes.
We will want to use your sunscreen every day and refrain from using any retinoids AHA, benzoyl peroxides, strong exfoliants, topical antibiotics or chemicals at least 48 hours before the procedure. Avoid exposure to UV rays from sunlight exposure or tanning beds 5 days before the treatment. Skin infection or breakouts, cold sores or open wounds, fever blisters, hives, allergic reactions, contact dermatitis, psoriasis or eczema are contraindicated. On the day of your appointment, you can expedite appointment time with fresh skin, no makeup.
No, this treatment is not painful or uncomfortable because this treatment is minimally invasive; the sensation is purely superficial and temporary.
You may expect redness, swelling, and itching for a few days after the procedure, this is a normal response to the small injuries made by the micro needles in your skin. Your skin may be more sensitive to the sunlight, so please use sunscreen and avoid irritants for a few days. Once the skin healing process starts, your skin will work to rejuvenate new tissue. You can use makeup after the redness has dissipated.
